5,200 Australians posed naked in front of Sydney Opera House. The photo shoot was done by US artist Spencer Turnick who’s based in New York. This photo shoot is another installation of nudes against backdrops. Its’ title is “Mardi Gras: The Base”, got after the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras last weekend. Turnick had done almost 100 installations from all over the world. He defended that all his works were not all about exhibitionism and eroticism. It’s all about how life can be vuinerable in a rough city landscape. His largest installation of nude photo was from Mexico City wherein 18,000 people participated last May 6, 2007.

A camel beauty pageant is now held in UAE’s northern emirates. The 10 finalists were selected from the best of 150 camels every day.  The top two finalists will bring home luxury cars for the camels’ owners while the eight finalists will win cash. The camels are judged by different criteria. It depends on the breed and its body is divided in 5 sections that can be graded by 20 points each. Well, after the pageant the camels are placed in auction. Some camels can be bought for 16 million dirhams ($4.36 million). This camel beauty contest and festival are held 3 times a year in Ajman and Abu Dhabi.

In London, parents are eyeing for luxury pashmina shawls and velour dressing gowns to make their child the star of the annual nativity play. The said luxury pashmina shawls and velour dressing gown may cost around 150 pounds ($250) which is not practical. Maybe the main reason why parents tend to spend money for their child’s  nativity play is to make their child stand out from the crowd. This should not be a basis because our child can still join annual nativity play just by using very simple materials.

101 year old architect back at work

A 101-year-old man named Oscar Niemeyer, an architect from Brazil is now back at work few weeks after his surgery for gallstones and intestinal tumor. He did much contribution in terms of modern architecture today. Being back at work means alot to him because he needed to keep himself busy and maintain his rhythm of life.
